Duncan McKnight is a recording artist and multi-instrumentalist influenced by psychedelic rock, shoegaze and 1960s garage. Born in Bakersfield, California, he began writing and recording music from at an early age. In his teenage years, he formed a band and began playing shows along the the west coast of USA, creating a following.
Things came to a crashing halt when, at the age of 20, McKnight fell from a window of a building in Reykjavik, Iceland in May 1st, 2009. He suffered extensive injuries including damage to the cerebellum and other internal organs. During a nine month hospital stay in Iceland, he learned how to walk, talk, and play music again. Icelandic artist Nonni DEAD helped him through the existential aspect of his recovery – as well as the concept: “He Who Fears Death Cannot Enjoy Life” had a profound impact.
After a decade, he has made a full recovery and continues to record music and play live. He has since collaborated with and opened for The Allah-Las, Singapore Sling, Dead Skeletons, The Soft Moon, and others. All new releases can be found on False Apostle Records.
